Spectacular Gorge: Maligne Canyon
The Maligne Valley contains one of the most spectacular gorges in the Canadian Rockies, the Maligne Canyon. Sheer limestone walls plunge to depths of over 50 metres (165 ft.). Walk the interpretive trail across six bridges and watch the Maligne River thunder down the Canyon. In winter, you can take a guided Canyon Crawl' along the floor of the frozen canyon.
Further up the road from the Canyon (37kms), you can visit Maligne Lake. The drive is worth it to view this exquisite lake the second largest glacier-fed lake in the world at 22 kms and also offers some of the best wildlife viewing opportunities in the Rockies.
