Sechelt is a town in western British Columbia, located about thirty kilometres from West Vancouver on the Sunshine Coast. Home to several provincial parks and some of the oldest trees in Canada, the Sechelt area has everything from beaches to bicycle trails to waterfalls. With mild winters and dry summers, Sechelt is one of British Columbia’s major tourist destinations.

Cultural and artistic activities make any visit to Sechelt interesting. The annual Festival of the Written Arts highlights the stories from the region, while the House of Hewhiwus is a combination of band headquarters and cultural centre, where visitors can learn about the Sechelt Nation. Music festivals and other special events make any visit to Sechelt enjoyable.

The town of Sechelt lies on a sandbar between the Sechelt Inlet and the Strait of Georgia. Parks and pebble beaches are central to Sechelt, as is the annual migration of waterfowl such as Canada geese and trumpeter swans. Cycling and swimming are some of the summer activities available, and skiing is a popular winter sport. The beautiful Sunshine Coast has something for everyone, and Sechelt is a good place to experience what the area has to offer.
