Entertainment and nightlife in Vancouver

There are literally hundreds of places to hang out in Vancouver and surrounding cities (Greater Vancouver). During the day the most popular places for visitors and residents is coffee-shops. Blenz, Tim Hortons and Starbucks are the most popular and can be found in just about every street corner. There are also many independent coffee shops especially around Commercial Drive, West 4th Avenue and along West Broadway.

Vancouver is filled with parks and beaches which make for a great place to relax especially on a sunny day - which there are many. Stanley Park is the largest park in Vancouver and is home to 2 major beaches: Second Beach and Third Beach. There are also picnic areas, secluded grassy areas and the Seawall. Other beachs include English Bay Beach, Sunset Beach, Jerico Beach, Kitsilano Beach and Spanish Banks... not to forget Wreck Beach at UBC (the nude beach!)

The steps of the Vancouver Art Gallery is also a popular place to sit back, relax and watch the people and regular protests go by.

After the sun goes down Granville Street downtown (north of Davie Street) is filled with people every night of the week attending the many nightclubs and restaurants. Davie Street is also very popular with its many gay clubs and gay bars (between Granville and Bute Streets).

Other areas around Vancouver which have many nightlife venues include Commercial Drive, West Hastings, West Broadway and also Gastown.

Most restaurants in Vancouver are open late and many have live entertainment or change to become a club. Recommended streets to wander down to see what inspires you include Granville Street, Davie Street, Denman Street, Robson Street, Main Street, Commercial Drive, West 4th Avenue and West Broadway.
