Vancouver - a natural setting

Vancouver's location surrounded by water and mountains is one of the first things a visitor notices and one many of the city's charms.

With its hundreds of parks including the huge, 1000 acre rainforest of Stanley Park, and backdrop of the Coastal Mountains to the north and beautiful English Bay and the Georgia Strait to the west, Vancouver's situation is a beauty to be admired by visitors and cherished by residents. The mild year-round temperatures and wide variety of outdoor activities means the city can be enjoyed at all times of the year.

Spring and summer months bring higher temperatures, great times for hiking, swimming in English Bay, relaxing on one of the many large sandy beaches and wildlife in their natural environment accessibly by city transportation (Stanley Park, Lighthouse Park, Cypress Provincial Park to name a few). Into the winter months fresh white powder snow blankets Vancouver's three ski mountains - Grouse Mountain, Cypress Mountain and Mount Seymour.

"Keep close to Nature's heart ... and break clear away, once in a while, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean."
- John Muir
