The Keystone Centre, home of the Wheat Kings WHL Hockey Team and many major events throughout the year has over 10 acres of activities under one roof. If you’re looking to have some sporting fun, Brandon boasts spectacular sporting fields, golf courses and many opportunities to be a spectator.
Brandon has been recognized in a number of national competitions, from Attractions Canada to Communities in Bloom. The city's track record for hosting major national events continues, as 2006 saw Brandon host the Special Olympics Summer Games as well as the National Communities in Bloom Conference.
Brandon is home to many beautiful parks, garden and trails that will get you moving throughout the community. With paved trails that surround the City, to many kilometers of paved and natural paths through the heart of the Assiniboine River Corridor, you can experience the beauty of our community.
Eleanor Kidd Gardens is a formal garden, featuring over 100 hanging baskets, a bronze sculpture and reflection pool and stage for community arts performances.
Brandon’s beautiful parks act as host to Music in the Parks on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the summer months that are free performances, to be enjoyed in the warm evening air.
To experience the city from the Assiniboine River, visit the Stream N Wood Adventure Centre at the Riverbank Discovery Centre. They offer seasonal rentals of canoes, kayaks, paddleboats, bikes and rollerblades to enjoy the area. You can also enjoy a ride on “The Discoverer” which provides you with information on the history and habitat of the Assiniboine River and surrounding riverbank area.
