Churchill is “where the polar bears live”. That is a stereotype that Churchill is quite happy to live with and they do live right alongside polar bears. During the autumn months these bears make their way off the surrounding tundra and await the freezing of the ice. This annual migration toward the shore of Hudson Bay where Churchill lies lead to the nickname “Polar Bear Capital of the World”.
