In 1767, legendary explorer Captain James Cook spent 23 days surveying the Bay of Islands. Captain Cook’s trail is a journey through history offering the visitor a spectacular view of the mountains, caves and the bay that Cook explored and charted over 300 years ago. At the monument site visitors can view copies of the original charts mapped by Captain Cook.
