Considered to be the oldest continuously operating Farmers' Market in North America, the Halifax Farmers' Market reflects the advance of the seasons in Nova Scotia. Maple syrup, spring flowers and bedding plants start a cycle, which grows into a summer filled with berries, fruit and garden fresh vegetables. In autumn our tables groan under the weight of the fall harvest and we get ready to "deck the halls" with traditional and innovative crafts, decorations and foods for the holidays. In winter our root cellars, cold rooms and green houses provide the market with top quality local products. Over 100 vendors offer farm fresh produce, meats, deli, baking, fish and an almost endless variety of Special products and crafts from the fields, waters, kitchens and workshops of Nova Scotia.
Through it all is a parade of regular and transient musicians. You might hear a traditional folk song, a pop ballad or a classical quartet as you wander through our courtyards of old stone, steel and glass or in one of the many nooks and crannies found in this refurbished 19th century brewery we call home.
Every Saturday year-around from 7am to 1pm
In winter 8am to 1 pm
