Wawa - Ontario
The Northern Ontario community of Wawa lies on the shore of Lake Superior at the intersection of Highways 101 and 17. Wawa is known for the 28 foot tall metal statue of a Canada Goose, built in 1963. Wawa is the native Ojibwe word for "wild goose" and was referred to as wild goose in the Songs of Hiawatha.
