The suburban town of Cornwall is located just west of Charlottetown and acts as a bedroom community.
Cornwall was founded sometime in the 1700s as a farming community. Once the Trans Canada Highway began to be constructed in the 1960s the community grew and became popular amongst commuters.
The present town represents the amalgamation of Cornwall, North River, Elliot River, East Wiltshire and York Point.
